Thu Banh Perry, founder and principal of Ascension Community Development LLC, is a community development & organizational development specialist with 20+ years of experience in nonprofit management, affordable housing development, & communications. Skills include, but are not limited to:
- project design, management, & reporting
- community engagement & participatory planning
- training design & facilitation, especially leadership development
- meeting design & facilitation, especially community meetings, retreats, & strategic planning
- relationship building & ongoing communication with staff/consultants & diverse project stakeholders
- community research & evaluation including survey & focus group design, data collection/facilitation, & data analysis
Born in Bac Lieu, Vietnam & transplanted to Savannah, GA at the age of one, Thu has been a resident of Oakland, CA since 1989. She is a proud product of the public school system, after which Thu went on to receive a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. While at Yale she studied abroad at The University of Chile in Santiago exploring social & economic development issues in Chile. Thu then earned an MBA with an emphasis in real estate from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. She is also a certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist and Restorative Justice Circle Keeper.
